You get normal people who are growing and learning how to treat others better (this takes a lifetime so don’t ever stop learning) and you get damaged people who need professional help in learning how to have healthy relationships. Through this process, I haven’t just heard beautiful stories from individuals that escaped abuse, I have also heard beautiful stories of abusive individuals that were able to recognize their abusive tendencies and become better. We all can benefit from these stories as no one is perfect in their interactions with their family, friends and colleagues.
(Just a note on this, please remember my previous comments about abusive relationships. If you are in an emotionally abusive relationship with an abuser, the likelihood of them changing is unlikely and in this case you will most likely need to get out of it. Please seek help from a professional to get advice on your individual situation)
